dress code & Club etiquette
At Hadley Wood Golf Club, we aim to maintain a welcoming and respectful environment for members, guests, and visitors, while upholding standards of dress and behaviour in keeping with the traditions of the club. The Dress Code reflects current expectations across leading golf clubs and applies to all areas of the Club, including the course, practice facilities, and the Clubhouse.
on the golf course and practice areas:
- Only recognised golf apparel is permitted. This includes clothing available from golf retailers and the Pro Shop.
- Polo/golf shirts must be tucked in unless designed to be worn untucked (e.g. some ladies' styles).
- Tailored shorts (cut just above the knee, with a waistband and belt loops) and tailored trousers are acceptable.
- Socks, when worn with shorts or skirts, must be predominantly white or matching in colour of the shoe. Socks need not be knee length.
- Golf-specific footwear must be worn (soft-spiked or spikeless).
- The following are
not permitted:

- Track suits, gym leggings, jogging bottoms
- Ripped or soiled jeans
- Hats must be worn peak-forward, and removed when indoors (except for religious reasons).
in the clubhouse and on the terrace:
- Clean, smart-casual attire is expected at all times.
- Golf attire is permitted in the Clubhouse, provided it is dry and clean. Wet or muddy clothing must be changed before entering the main bar, Russell Room, dining room or terrace.
- Clean soft spiked or spikeless golf shoes, smart-casual lace-up, or deck shoes designed to be worn without socks, may be worn in all areas of the Clubhouse and terrace, except the dining room where golf shoes must be changed for smart-casual foortwear.

general etiquette and conduct
on the course
- Repair all pitch marks and replace fairway divots.
- Arrrive on the 1st tee at least five minutes before your allocated tee time.
- Keep pace with the group in front - an 18-hole round should take no more than:
- 4 balls - max 4.5 hours
- 3 balls - max 4.0 hours
- 2 balls - max 3.5 hours
- If you hold up the group behind, for whatever reason, allow them to play through.
- Par-3 holes 3 and 10 are 'call up' holes - meaning once all players have hit onto the green, balls should be marked and the group behind invited to play their tee shots.
In the clubhouse
- The Clubhouse is a designated 'quiet zone' - please keep mobile phones on silent and avoid disruptive conversations.
- Mobile phones may be used discreetly for calls only in the locker rooms or the car park (or on the course in case of a medical emergency)
- No smoking or vaping is permitted inside the Clubhouse or on the terrace.
- Swearing and disruptive behaviour are not accceptable; we ask all members and guests to be courteous and considerate.
Club staff, the course Marshall, and the General Manager are empowered to enforce these standards. Failure to comply may result in being politely asked to change attire or leave the Club.
Thank you for your cooperation.
