The Hadley Wood Ladies Section has been a cornerstone of our club with ladies contesting the first major competitions as far back as 1923, a year after the club's founding.

Today there are more than a dozen major competitions annually open to ladies, whether in singles, pairs or mixed formats. Many of our competitions now play off gender-neutral tees. We are keen to promote integration with drawn competitions and social lunches after golf.

Tuesday is our dedicated playing day, and we facilitate Saturday and Sunday competitions for those unable to join us midweek. Our section offers events to suit a range of handicaps, including trophy and 'Mahogany Board' competitions for players within defined handicap ranges. 

We have a great Ladies Academy, which offers a two-year programme through to full membership. Offering a blend of individual and group lessons, and mentorship from established members, we cultivate not just golfing skills but a sense of belonging and camaraderie with our golfing community.

We have a variety of opportunities for ladies to represent the section and club in external competitions from the Ladies Scratch Team (Hertfordshire Division 1) to county-level events - such as the Pearson Trophy - to Ladies Friendlies and more.

We celebrate milestones achieved, whether handicap improvements or competition victories, with pride. Many of our mahogany boards list ladies competition winners going back decades.

Beyond the fairways, we foster a vibrant social scene with a range of activities throughout the year. These include external speakers (off season), bridge, and a putting club, ensuring that every member at Hadley Wood Golf Club finds a place to connect, learn and grow.

As the growth and development of women's golf accelerates with increased media visibility, we stand at the forefront of progress. Hadley Wood Golf Club is proud to be one of the first club signatories to the R&A's historic Women in Golf Charter, which is designed to encourage actions that enable more women and girls to flourish and maximise their potential at all levels.
