When it was originally conceived, the fifth hole was a demanding par five. Improvements in golf equipment has now re-positioned its challenge as a 440-yard, par four from the Blue tees and a strong 414-yard, par five from the Purple. There is an intruding oak tree on the left and out-of-bounds on the right of an undulating fairway. Fairway and greenside bunkers define and shape the hole, and the semi-plateau green is a difficult target.
